ANCIENT KURGANS of SALBYK STEPPE Museum

The main objects of museum protection are a monuments of historical and cultural heritage of the 2nd century BC - 1st century AD: Okunev, Tagar and Tashtyk archaeological Cultures.

In Salbyk steppe there are 56 kurgans (burial mounds) and menhirs, ancient astronomical observation platforms, petroglyphs (stone paintings), stone-pit.

Great Salbyk kurgan consists of 23 stones a few human growths in height, placed around the perimeter of the rectangle. The age of Salbyk kurgan is not less than three thousand years. That place has a great energy force. All kurgan's stones have its name, its mission and its energy. 

The menhirs BIG GATES are placed right at the entrance to the Salbyk kurgan. They symbolize the masculine and feminine. The passage between them is called The GATES of LIFE.

By its monumentality the Great Salbyk kurgan can be put on the same list with famous Stonehenge.

Barsuchy log kurgan is the second one by its monumentality in Khakassia (2nd century BC). Kurgan has a hard to build construction, designed as a big stone wall with high vertical stone stelae and inside stone installations. Here were buried at least 5 people, the members of Tagar elite. First described by researcher Miller in 1739, since than it has attracted the attention of scientists by its geomagnetic anomalies. That is why people think here is a Road of Spirits, through which the spirits go out to the upper world.
