Fortress Chebaki

Location: The fortress is located on the right bank of the Cherny Iyus River, on top of mount Sve-takh, 4.5 km southeast of Chebaki village of Shirinsky district of the Republic of Khakasia.

First fortification was explored in 1888 by archaeologist Klements D.A. The fortress has two lines of defensive walls. The first one, outer, cuts off the piece of mountain top of the 160*170 meters size.  Total length of the wall is 210 meters. The walls are built of huge sandstone slabs, laid flat on top of each other. Walls well preserved up to the present time. In some areas, the wall height up to 1.8 meters. The stone construction of the building are attached to a citadel wall. The fortress excavations was made in 1989 and 1995. It showed that the real monument is a unique architectural and fortification construction of the Bronze Age (2nd millennium BC).

A lot of fragments of vessels, fragments of cult vessel-ashtrays, stone arrows, axes, scrapers and more than 12,000 fragments of bones of wild animals, mostly deer was found.
